When it comes to your kitchen, do you tend to not know where to start? Well, here is everything you need to know about cleaning your kitchen.

Before you officially start, take a few minutes to clear away items that do not belong in the kitchen and place them in a bin or basket to put away afterwards.  Put any items from the counters into the cupboards if they have a spot to go so the counters are as clear as possible.  If you are going to be doing the whole kitchen at once, clear everything off the counters and place them on the dining room table so that they are out of the way.  It takes a few more minutes at the beginning but will save time in the end. This is just a pre-clean, looking at things that are on the floor, obviously out of place, or that you know that you want to get rid of.  Save big organizing projects for later!

Always say start at the top and make your way down! That way you aren’t having to reclean things.

Light Fixtures:

Wipe down all the light fixtures inside and out! Even change bulbs if they need to be changed!

Tops of Cabinets:

If your cabinets go all the way to the ceiling, then you can skip this step. For those that don’t go up that far, they probably need a good dusting. Remove anything you have on top of your cabinets. After completely clearing them, you can then take your vacuum and dust the tops of them. After that, use a spray dust cleaner to wipe them down with. While you’re up there, make sure to check the corners and ceiling edges for cobwebs.

Windows:

Take down everything. Dust your blinds. Spray and wipe down any splatters that may be on them. Clean your windows using glass cleaner. Also open the window and clean the cracks on the bottom of them.

Surface Cleaning:

Working from top to bottom, wipe down all cabinet doors, knobs, switches, counters, sink and faucets. Once the counters are cleaned, wipe down and place your items back where they belong.

Appliances:

If you can, move out your appliances and vacuum behind them. Clean the dishwasher, microwave, and oven as needed.

Floor:

Sweep the floor and spot clean or mop as needed!
