If you’ve ever owned a pet, you will know that there is hair… everywhere.

All.the.time.

Even if you get a supposedly “non-shedding” animal… they shed. We all do. Hair follicles fall out, it’s natural. Here are the 10 things you need to keep your home clean with an animal.

  1. Lint Roller (or duct tape!)
    1. Lint roller or tape to get those pesky stuck hairs off of ANY and ALL surfaces. Clothing, furniture…etc
  2. Dust Buster (Handheld Vacuum)
    1. To vacuum up hairballs or random shards of grass or leaves that come in, stuck to your precious baby’s furr.
  3. Door Mats or a Towel by the door with Clorox wipes or a small container of water
    1. To wipe down dirty paws or shoes after a rainstorm.
  4. Pet Shampoo or an all natural human shampoo
    1. This seems like it would be common-sense, but you’d be surprised at how many pet owners homes I’ve been in and they didn’t have pet shampoo. This is a must. Pets are messy, they get into things they shouldn’t and require baths or at least wipe downs.
  5. White Vinegar
    1. This is a cure all for any and all pet stains or odors. White vinegar will get spills or stains out of fabric and microfiber furniture. While I don’t like the smell… it works and it works well.
  6. Pet Brush
    1. Animals, well most animals, love to be brushed. It helps get their excess and loose hairs before they fall off all over your home.
  7. Baking Soda
    1. Yet another smart thing to have around the house. You can sprinkle it on your carpet to get odors out, on furniture, you can even bathe them in baking soda for a soothing, odor-reducing bath!
  8. Litter or Litter Scooper (for kitties, of course!)
    1. Ideally, you should be scooping out the litter box, at a minimum, twice per day… per cat. We have an automatic litter box that scoops it every 45 minutes. This makes litter clean-up so much easier! Crystal litter is also a save-all. It immediately absorbs the ammonia smell from their urine!
  9. Pooper Scooper (for dogs or leash trained cats
    1. Your neighbors will appreciate it.
  10. A washing machine
    1. Again, seems like common sense, but if you live in an apartment or a condo and use the community laundry room, you’ll know how much of a convenience your own washing machine would be, if you have a pet. It makes life washing animal bedding or clothing SO much easier!
