Cleaning your master suite is so important. Who would have thought that your master bedroom would be your retreat? The place where you can go hide from your kids and relax. When it comes to cleaning, normally the master bedroom is the last one that tends to get cleaned. We tend to focus more on the main areas such as the Living Room, Kitchen, and guest bathroom.
Pre-clean
Before you officially start cleaning, do a pre-clean. Grab some trash bags, laundry baskets and even boxes. Get everything out that doesn’t belong in the room! Take all the laundry to the laundry room. Once you have completed those tasks, then you are ready to really clean!
Dusting
When you start your actual clean, start by dusting. Dust from top to bottom and work all the way down from one side to the next so you don’t have to keep going back and forth. Dust the walls, light fixtures, ceiling fans and baseboards. Just another tip if what you are dusting is super dusty, then I recommend using a spray dust remover so that it’s not sending all that dust from one place to the next.
Windows
Take down all the blinds and curtains or any other window treatments you may have. Really clean your windows. Clean the hinges. Make sure to open the window and get the dirt and grime that may be in the window itself. Once that is done, simply clean the glass. Save cleaning the glass for the last part, you don’t want to keep going over yourself.
Bed
First things first, you will completely strip your bed down to its mattress. Wash the mattress cover and all sheets in hot water to completely kill all the dust mites that may be on them. Depending on the size of the sheets and comforter, you may have to take it to the cleaners to prevent breaking your washer. When it comes to washing your pillows, make sure you are washing two at a time so that you can keep your washer leveled.
Closet
The changing of the seasons is a great time to go through your closet and organize it. Get rid of those clothes you haven’t wore in the last four summers and items you know you are never going to wear again.
Sprinkle your favorite carpet refresher on the carpet and vacuum. Your bedroom is now clean! You can go relax!
